So we have finally arrived in South Africa, Johannesburg to be exact. The plane ride felt like forever. I mean 18 hours should feel like forever. Mainly because i thought we were so close to the end when we stopped in Dakar. I was so sleepy i do not think my brain was completely functioning. The next 8 hours from Dakar to johannesburg was not bad because i put on Tamar Braxton's cd on my tv and went to sleep. The next thing i knew it was lunch time, so i ate and went to sleep again. I pretty much was a newborn baby for the entire plane ride, eat and sleep. So once we got to Johannesburg, we thought it was smooth sailing??? Haha not. We had to go through customs, grab our bags, and figure out the next step Dom's mom reserved a room for him and he was nice enough to let me come. Thank god because i had planned on staying in the airport for the 16 hour layover. Bad idea. I hear that jo-berg, what south Africans call it, was one of the high crime areas but i guess i didn't really think that over well enough. When we got to the airport, there were tons of police, in military attire. I felt like i was in the middle of a war. Literally. When we finally found where we were supposed to go, one of the airport workers decided to help us find our shuttle to the hotel. Well, i thought he was doing it out of the kindness of his heart, but he really wanted a tip. All i had was a few u.s dollars because we just landed and did not get rand yet. So i just gave him a dollar. I mean i don't know what good that is,, especially since he will have to pay to convert it to rands. When we arrived at the hotel, we were told that we had come to the wrong one and that there was a hotel at the airport. Moral of the story is nobody actually knew what we
were asking them at the airport, they just nodded their heads yes for every question we asked. Blah blah blah. However, Dom was able to switch his reservations to this hotel and we got to relax comfortably. Thank god i slept on the plane because neither of us could go to sleep. Either we were too eager to get to rhodes or we just werent used to the time yet. Who knows.
